Presented below is the Big Rock Candy Mountain/Barstool Mountain Top 100 Drinking Songs list in all it's full, uninterrupted glory.

We'll fix this up in a spiffier fashion, and possibly a more easily save able manner, as time goes by. For now, this should provide you with a fuller view of how the list turned out.

This is now the official home of the Top 100 list, and we'll be getting up full posts (With MP3's!!!!) on both the Top 100 list, any other drinking songs that strike our fancy, and anything drinking song oriented our guest posters want to cover.

A perfect playlist for my funeral

This is, indeed , a fine playlist. I know I drink too much, but this list provides me with one hundred reasons why this lifestyle is so appealing. Although many of these songs are pathetic and sad, they're all still a thousand times better than the crap we hear on radio today. So,why quit imbibing now?

It's a wonderful list, a great bunch of songs.
That said, I believe it's "Gonna Drink Milwaukee Dry" by Charlie Walker, not "Gonna Drink Milwaukee" by Dry Charlie Walker. Dry Charlie Walker didn't drink.

So when you say this Friday, do you mean THIS Friday or this Friday three weeks ago or this Friday when you get around to it?

Don't forget "All Jacked Up" by Gretchen Wilson!

Also consider Martin Mull's "The Drunkard's Waltz", circa mid 70's

...and no drinking song list is complete without "The Face on the Bar Room Floor" by The Falming Stars...

Anonymous said...

..that should be the Flaming Stars, I guess I must be drunk. WOOHOO!!!

What about "Broken Hearted People" by Guy Clark

How 'bout "Moonshiner" by Bob Dylan?

Very impressive!

Personally, if you're gonna put in a Dropkick Murphys song, it's gotta be "Fuck You, I'm Drunk." If for no other reason than for the line "...and I'm going to be drunk till the next time I'm drunk!"

What about "Alcoholic" by Fishbone?

Anonymous said...

There are NO Mojo Nixon Songs on there.

That list is BUNK with out 'em.

I mean come on

"Are you drinkin with me Jesus?"
"Beer Ain't Drinkin"
She's All Liquored Up"

F'in CLASSICS!

Just for starters.....

This list needs to be extended because no list can be complete without
"Midnight Communion" by Delbert McClinton, and "The Wine Song" by the Youngbloods"

I'm glad the DK song snuck in there. I was worried for a moment scanning the list. 'You give me head / It makes it worse / Take out your f***ing retainer put it in your purse'. Ooh, he's a charmer.

Alcohol by Brad Paisley is a good one and so is Sittin' at a Bar by Rehab. And Drnkin' Bone by Tracy Byrd.

You cant forget "Devil In The Bottle" by Hank Williams Jr.

I think you could've included the entire Pogue's album "Rum, Sodomy and the Lash." Though only a handful of the songs actually mention drinking, Shane MacGowan sounds perpetually drunk.

Great list - lots of favorites.

HEY THERE

YOU COULD ADD JUST ABOUT ANY SONG BY THE LATE (AND GREAT) KEITH WHITLEY, ESP. "TENNESSEE COURAGE"

Fifteen Beers Ago" by Ben Colder (aka Sheb Wooley)

Thank you, sweet Jesus for no one mentioning Nickelback's "Rockstar". Oh my god I hate having to spin that song every damn week.

But, if you haven't heard it in a while and you're not at my bar, feel free to play it yourself.

Pretty great stuff, but for my money, Naked Raygun's song Wonder Beer is by a long way the best song about drinking.

"Drunk again, not a weekend"--and that's the first line. It actually gets better from there.

Try I Ain't drunk by Albert Collins
